FAQs
How long does the season run?
Practice is allowed to start November. 1. Regular season games start the first weekend in December and end the third weekend in February. A single elimination tournament begins on the Monday after regular season ends and goes (2 weeks) until the first weekend in March. Regular season games are only played on Saturday and Sunday. Tournament games are played on weekday evenings and on weekends.
How are teams placed in divisions?
We are trying something different this year. Some teams will be placed in Division 1 by evaluations or try-outs. The rest of the teams will be randomly matched (in each age group) for games. The league will track win/loss records and point differentials during the regular season. We will then use this information to seed teams for the tournament. Division 1 teams will not be allowed to move down regardless of their record, but teams may be moved up according to their record.
Will there be Sunday games?
Yes, there will be times when your team may be scheduled to play on a Sunday (all games start after 12:00 noon).
Can we bring food or drinks into the gymnasiums?
No food is allowed in any gym. Some gyms prefer that the players only bring water (not Gatorade or powerade).
How do I know in what age group my child should play?
The cutoff date for each age group is September 1st. For example, if your child is 9 years old on September 1 he would play in the U10 age group, even if he turns 10 later in the season.
What happens with the games in case of inclement weather?
Typically, if the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect in Frederick County, all games are cancelled. However, it is always best to check with your coach or area coordinator.
